Today we had the honour and privilege to stand before our church, Eastside Community Church, as witness and ultimately before God, to dedicate our little Madison to the Lord. To publicly state that she is a blessing from Him and hopefully we will be able to raise her to be a blessing to Him.
The father, as spiritual leader in the home, usually gets given an opportunity to say something.
Sidenote: As coaches we often play the father role in athletes lives, especially those where the home is broken or lacking. What role should we then also be playing in terms of the spiritual guide, a beacon and continuously showing the fruits of the spirit to our athletes. A major responsibility.
Here is what I said during this special moment in our lives as parents and a family.
To all our friends, family and our family at Eastside.
Thank you for your excitement with us and support for us during this crazy, unbelievable journey.
All the messages, calls, visits, gifts, meals and love
We Really appreciate it!
Madison’s name has a few meanings
Some variants says its from a derivative of Matthew, meaning Gift from God
What we did not know is that it is the Hebrew derivative of Madeleine, which was Robyn’s moms name, her granny (who fought a big fight against Cancer a few years ago). Along with Now realizing that Magdelena, which is one her great Grans name.
I read in one of those ‘names’ books the verse they have with her name is
What is impossible for people, is possible with God.
This should be a special reminder to us. A reminder that this gift from God, this mighty warrior is only possible with God.
You have been with us, in this crazy world, for a short two weeks, but it feels like it has been forever.
You have made our family complete.
I thank the Lord for blessing us with you.
For the character you will become,
For the fact you will never give us any troubles and sleepless nights
For the beautiful gift that you are. A gift we don’t deserve but only through his Grace have received
For the baby sister that you are to your character of a sister, Zoë.
And I thank the Lord that He in his wisdom thought it wise to give us the honour of raising you and Zoë in his ways.
I know that you will be an energetic, active young lady.
The verse, (which I discovered when seeking a verse for her and was the daily verse on You Version the day she was born) I would like to dedicate to Madison and pray over her life is
For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people and we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures.
We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness and devotion to God.
To Zoe, you going to be the best sister. Thank you for being you and the character you have become. You can be the example to Madison and help mommy and Daddy love and teach her.
To Keanan, our son from another mother, thank you for your excitement and accepting of Madison.
To our Children I pray this verse in Philippians 1:9-10 will hold true to them for their lives
I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.
