Vision Sunday 2014

Vision Sunday 2014 @ Eastside Community Church

Theme Verse
Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy. (Habakkuk 3:2 NIV)

Your fame is you parting the Red Sea, providing water, of your good deeds to your people. God when I hunk of all the good things you have done I have no words, I just want to worship you!

How much effort are we willing to put in to go beyond the level of neutrality???

In Eastside we have seen and experienced Gods provision and grace and abundance. We have seen His hand and miracles.

This would be the year we come before The Lord on our knees asking The Lord to come and be amongst us, to live in awe if His provision, guidance, love, and dependency.

To become true Christ followers …
A level expectation …
A powerful in dwelling of Gods spirit …
To become more like Jesus …

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord ’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations. (Isaiah 61:1-4 NIV)

Jesus was on a mission to change hearts, minds and to bring healing and restoration.

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (John 14:12, 13 NIV)

Surely if Jesus mission was to change people and not be neutral, then that should be out mission as well!?!

Jesus said we will do greater things than He did!

Whatever we do this year should be to finish the mission of Jesus!

Every major revival reflected the image of Jesus…
This life is only an introduction into the next, however God only used ordinary people.

God wants you to be busy with His mission!!!

BUT don’t be fearful of what to do and the wisdom to do it …
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. (James 1:5, 6 NIV)

This year the leadership of this church is committed …
.. To helping each of you to be oaks of righteousness
.. See the greatness of God
.. Experience the power of god in our everyday lives
.. Develop a heart for people around you

What are we being asked to do?
.. To pray
.. Intentionally open your life to the work of His spirit – commit yourselves to reading The Book (not a book about The Book) .. Respond to the promptings of His Spirit
Take the Risk!

Don’t be neutral!!!

We need your loyalty
.. Will you commit I this body
.. Loyalty is seen in three ways
… I am committed to pray for this family
… I am committed to play with this family
… I am committed to pay so that this family can succeed

… Pray in Feb and throughout the year
… Take responsibility for your own spiritual walk
… Commit yourself to help four people come to Christ
… Be faithful in giving every month!

Then this city will bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide for it.’ (Jeremiah 33:9 NIV)

Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy. (Habakkuk 3:2 NIV)
