Serving but not letting us forget about the troops. The privilege of serving and guarding your own village!?!

Serving but not letting us forget about the troops. The privilege of serving and guarding your own village!?!

Ps Mark Odendaal -Eastside CC

Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4:9-11 NIV)

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Galatians 6:9, 10 NIV)

PRIDE
When we take God out of the picture and don’t depend on him, believing I can’t just do. … Tempts us to take credit from others
… Makes us unteachable
… Causes us to think we can do it on our own.

SEXUAL SIN
The 3G’s – Girls, Greed and Glory.
A warning to all!

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 NIV)

CYNICISM
Critical of everything, where we loose the fact that God is working. So easy for us to be cynical!

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Galatians 6:9, 10 NIV)

Don’t get weary of seeing the good God is doing.

SPIRITUAL LETHARGY
Often when our physical tiredness just gets in the way.

Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10 NIV)

When you find Joy in serving God, he fulfills you.

FALSE SENSE of IDENTITY

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10 NIV)

When we let our God down, a falseness of identity creeps in and we start challenging our way of doing things!

So ask the questions of my self, based on the different categories. Put safeguards in place to know we can overcome Satan’s attacks.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 5:8-11 NIV)

Know the Bible and know what it says about the temptations and sin you suffer and fight with. You can’t beat an enemy you don’t know!
Be accountable to a group of people who want the best for you!

Test and see if you have left your guard down? As a church and a community of faith, we need to take guard and not let my village unguarded.
